5 Reasons Eating Alcoholic Ice Cream for Breakfast Is a Healthy Choice

Not everything about ice cream and booze is unhealthy. We’re definitely not saying that housing Arctic Buzz is the best way to get your percent daily nutrition value, but eating it in moderation definitely has its benefits.

Check out five reasons why Arctic Buzz is good for you, and always remember to wake up with a scoop of Buzz responsibly.

1. It’s surprisingly nutritious.

Not only does it taste great, ice cream contains calcium, potassium, and magnesium, all of which help maintain healthy blood pressure levels. Calcium also promotes strong teeth and bones.

According to University Health News, “it could also help you stay full and boost energy levels, as a half-cup serving of ice cream comes with five to nine grams of protein.”

Other nutrients include vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, and phosphorous.

Eating ice cream can even improve calcium absorption. In a Dutch study, researchers found that calcium is as easily absorbed from ice cream as it is from milk. This means ice cream may be a good vehicle for delivery of calcium.

2. A Japanese scientist says so.

If you walk into an ice cream shop that keeps up with the news, you may find newspaper clippings about a Japanese scientist who claimed that eating ice cream for breakfast is incredibly good for you.

Said scientist performed a study that found that people who ate ice cream for breakfast experienced things like more energy.

Well, we know that this study is flawed, as the control group with which they compared their positive findings apparently didn’t eat any breakfast at all. But, hey, it does show that eating ice cream for breakfast could be better than eating nothing at all.

3. Arctic Buzz has antioxidants.

Some of our flavors, such as raspberry, go great with morning cocktails like mimosas. And do you know what raspberries have? Antioxidants.

To get a little scientific, The Mayo Clinic says that “antioxidants are substances that may protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation. Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, and carotenoids, may help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.”

So go ahead and drop a scoop of Raspberry Arctic Buzz into your morning OJ, and enjoy the added protection against free radicals.

4. Real cocoa has a bunch of nutrients.

There’s a reason health smoothies often come with cacao–the seeds from which cocoa is made. Real cocoa is really good for you.

Arctic Buzz’s chocolate ice cream is made with real cocoa. It’s not quite a healthy smoothie or juice, but hey, the health benefits don’t lie. Consider the following reference daily intakes (RDIs).

A 100-gram bar of dark chocolate with 70–85% cocoa contains:

  • 11 grams of fiber
  • 67% of the recommended daily intake (RDI) for iron
  • 58% of the RDI for magnesium
  • 89% of the RDI for copper
  • 98% of the RDI for manganese
  • It also has plenty of potassium, phosphorus, zinc and selenium

5. Alcohol in small quantities is heart healthy.

If you maintain an active lifestyle, having a few drinks per week makes you 25% to 40% less likely to have a heart attack, stroke, or hardened arteries.

This may be in part because small amounts of alcohol can raise your HDL levels. Believe it or not, that’s actually a good type of cholesterol.

However, drinking too much will raise your risk of heart disease, so remember to enjoy Arctic Buzz in moderation.

Even if it is good for you. 😉
