Day of the Dead Recipes with Arctic Buzz

You may be suffering from a Halloween hangover right now, but it’s time to buck up, because the festivities certainly aren’t over. If, on the other hand, you’re sad about spooky-time coming to an end, fear not because the two-day Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos is here! Despite its name, The Day of the Dead is a joyous time for honoring loved ones who have passed away. Those who celebrate offer prayers as well as food and drinks to their departed to encourage visits from the land of the dead.

Whether you take part in this celebration regularly or just want to enjoy the colorful festivities this year, dessert and drinks are Day of the Dead necessities; we’re here to share some festive recipes, from fun drinks to traditional Mexican desserts. Try out these 21+ treats if you’re looking to get in the Day of the Dead spirits (and try summoning them while you’re at it).

Mexican Hot Chocolate Float

Recipe adapted from The Chunky Chef

Ingredients: (yields 4)
-4 scoops Vanilla Arctic Buzz
-4 oz. tequila (optional)
-4 cups whole milk
-2 tablespoons cocoa powder
-4 oz. bittersweet chocolate
-7 oz. sweetened condensed milk
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

-Add all ingredients (except for tequila) to large saucepan & heat over medium heat. Whisk as it heats to combine all ingredients until smooth
-Bring to a low boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 3-5 minutes
-Add in 4 oz. tequila (if desired), stir and pour into mugs
-Add one scoop Arctic Buzz to each mug, serve and enjoy!

Sugar Skull Brownies (à la Buzz)

-Vanilla Arctic Buzz
-1 box of your preferred brownie mix
-2/3 cup vegetable oil
-1/4 cup water
-2 eggs
-2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar
-You’ll also need this sugar skull cutter to cut the brownies

-Follow brownie box recipe
-Line a 12×18 baking sheet with non-stick tin foil
-Pour brownie batter into pan and spread into a thin layer with spatula
-Bake for 16-20 minutes until edges are firm
-Remove from oven and let cool completely,
-Flip pan of brownies over onto a cutting board, peel tin foil off
-Sprinkle with powdered sugar, then cut brownies out using cookie cutter
-Using other side of the cookie cutter (specifically the one linked above), carefully stamp the brownie to get skull details
-Serve with a scoop or two of Vanilla Arctic Buzz & enjoy!

Berry Margarita Punch

Ingredients: (yields 12 servings)
-about 5 scoops Raspberry Arctic Buzz
-1 bottle of champagne/Prosecco
-1 (2 L.) bottle of seltzer
-3 cup frozen strawberries
-1 1/2 cup tequila
-1 cup triple sec
-1/2 cup lime juice
-1 cup fresh sliced strawberries
-2 limes, thinly sliced
-1/4 cup salt

-In a large punch bowl, combine seltzer & champagne
-In a blender, blend frozen strawberries with tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Add to punch bowl and top with fresh limes and strawberries
-Add 5 or so scoops of Arctic Buzz (slightly softened) to the bowl
– Rim glasses with a lime wedge and dip in salt, pour drink and garnish with lime
-Serve & enjoy!

Calabaza en Tacha (candied pumpkin)

Ingredients: (yields 6-8 servings)
-Vanilla Arctic Buzz
-1 (2.5 lb) pumpkin (seeded & cut into 2-3 in. chunks)
-1 orange (zested and juiced)
-1/2 lb piloncillo (or brown sugar)
-2 cups water
-2 sticks cinnamon

-In medium sauce pan, simmer water, piloncillo, orange zest & juice, and cinnamon until piloncillo is dissolved
-Add the pumpkin slices and bring mixture to a boil
-Reduce the heat to low and simmer with a cover for half an hour
-Remove lid and simmer for another hour to hour and a half until pumpkin is tender & sauce is reduced to a glaze
-Serve warm with Vanilla Arctic Buzz and enjoy!
